With this in mind they selected Air Plants Dust Extraction Limited to supply and install a new ‘state of the art’ low energy dust extraction system together with a biomass boiler to provide heat for new production facility.

 

Today, from its new base at The Works, Alcester Road it is still a Grainger family company, providing a full and comprehensive construction and refurbishment service; manufacturing bespoke and mass produced joinery through traditional contracting methods of procurement and via partnering frameworks, design and build and

collaborative arrangements.

 

“Our in-house state-of-the-art cnc system and superb joinery skills mean we can produce beautifully crafted bespoke furniture to enhance any environment,” says Michael Grainger. Those environments are varied. Wensely’s work in the retail sector has seen it partner with some of the nation’s top brands, producing everything from food displays and café environments to chic high street clothing brands while its understanding of the major impact and disruption construction work can cause to a teaching environment and its expertise in working around them, mean it is the company of choice for many educational establishments requiring refurbishments or fit-outs.

 

After careful consideration of Wensley’s requirements, Air Plants came up with a scheme that involved the installation of an Air Plants self cleaning Transair Filter, the filter has been specifically designed to present a very low resistance to the incoming air, when combined with our High Efficiency centrifugal fans operating at an efficiency of up to 80% whilst boasting low noise levels. The package represents real savings in running costs over conventional equipment, the whole system has been designed to give exceptional reliability with the minimum of service requirement.

 

Biomass Combustion

Following the Governments announcement at the end of 2011 that a renewable heat incentive is available to support the installation of ‘biomass boilers’, which includes utilising on site generated wood waste as a fuel, Talbotts has seen much interest into their C range of boiler based units.

 

The renewable heat incentive is a type of feed in tariff eligible for efficient biomass & wood waste boilers. It is designed to encourage all sizes of businesses and industrial end users to invest in green energy technologies such as a Talbott’s system. The tariff rates are agreed for small, medium and large heating requirements, to which end users could receive from £20,000 to £70,000 per year, depending on the size of building to be heated.

 

Once end users are accredited to the scheme the tariff is fixed for 20 years, therefore seeing a massive return on investments. In most cases customers can expect to see a pay back within 2-3 years, this does not take into account subsequent savings from eliminating wood waste disposal and oil or gas heating costs.

 

The Talbott C Range is a proven product that has been available to the market place for nearly 20 years. The range incorporates some of the most advanced combustion control techniques to ensure longevity of product as well as meeting stringent emissions standards. Over the years Talbotts has gained many satisfied customers that are extremely pleased with the durability and robustness of this well made British range of

Wensley also needed to address the problem of hand sanding with orbital sanders, which are vital for the type of work they carry out. When used these produce large quantities of dust into the workplace, the dust produced is small enough to enter human lungs,

 

Wensley asked Airplants for a solution to the problem and were told the most efficient way to minimise the risks is to extract the dust directly at the source.

 

Airplants are the main dealer within the ‘UK’ for the RUPES Hivac system and could offer a solution that fitted the brief. Airplants installed a RUPES HE900 turbine Hivac system together with a ring main to serve all of the work benches, the operator simply plugs the

 

orbital sander into the high pressure ring main creating suction through the sander picking up the dust as it is created. The two stage separation filter with automatic filter cleaning by reverse jet pulse operates with continuous maximum efficiency.

 

Shredding

 

An Untha LR1000 shredder has also been supplied as part of the package.

 

This allows Wensley to reduce their solid waste and transfer it to the combustion system via the extraction system. In the shredding process, the unique hydraulically actuated swing pusher (load dependent) presses the material against the rotor which is equipped with indexable cutters. The cutters grab the material and shred it against the static cutting bars and perforated screen. This arrangement gives a highly reliable system and when

combined with the build quality and standard 3 year warranty made Untha the only choice.

 

The overall system provides Wensley with an efficient and effective dust control system, whilst allowing them to dispose of their solid waste and collected dust in a cost effective way, saving on land fill and factory heating fuel costs which are constantly rising and at the same time attracting RHI payments and helping to protect the environment.
